Consumers Still Spending Time With Radio

More from Nielsen’s latest Total Audience Report. Despite the onslaught of new technology, radio listening is still very high with consumers, according to the Nielsen numbers. Average time spent listening to radio for adults 18 and older has only trended down slightly. In the first quarter of 2013, adults spent 2 hours and 48 minutes listening to radio every day. In the first quarter of 2014 it was 2 hours and 46 minutes and in the first quarter of this year it was 2 hours and 42 minutes.

50-64 year olds are the largest weekly radio listening demo at 14 hours and 51 minutes per week, followed by 35-49 year olds at 13 hours 39 minutes per week. The 18 to 24 year old demo is listening to radio for 10 hours and 11 minutes every week. Radio’s numbers are second only to traditional TV watching.
